Gong Myung on Han Hyo-joo dating rumor: 'I didn't even know an article came out'

A fan saw the article and rushed to the baseball stadium. That's how Gong Myung found out the dating rumor was real.

In a June 22 interview in Jongno-gu, Seoul, held to promote the Netflix film Namphyeondeur (Husbands, released June 19), the actor addressed the buzz around his June 11 outing with co-star Han Hyo-joo at Jamsil Stadium, where the two watched an LG Twins vs. SSG Landers game together.

"I didn't even know an article came out," he said. The piece that ran was a photo of him eating sundae in the stands—framed like a dating sighting. One fan apparently didn't wait for clarification. "While watching the game, a fan kept coming and going in front of me, so I asked 'Why did you come here?' and they said 'I saw the article and rushed right over.'" He seemed more startled than flattered.

Han Hyo-joo, his senior on the project, found it funnier. "Han Hyo-joo senior laughed and showed me that photo while teasing me," Gong Myung said. "The article came out like a dating sighting, but fortunately there were many positive reactions saying we look good together, so I'm satisfied."

He also saw the accidental press as a win: "It became high-level drama promotion, didn't it? I went there to study baseball, but the article came out that way."

The two are set to star together in the MBC Friday-Saturday drama Neo-ui Geuraundeu (Your Ground), based on Jerry Maguire, in which Gong Myung plays a baseball player. The drama is scheduled to air in November.

On the Netflix side, Husbands is a comedy action film directed by Park Gyu-tae about an ex-husband and a current husband who team up to rescue a wife kidnapped by a crime organization. Jin Sun-kyu plays ex-husband Chung-sik, a drug squad ace. Gong Myung plays current husband Min-seok, a young veterinarian.
