Every song is written and composed by JAY B himself, credited under his producer name Def. The lyric poster for 'Layback' teases "TAKE IT, WE'RE GONNA SLOW IT DOWN LIKE A LAYBACK," "OUR TEMPO MAKES MORE LAYBACK," and the Korean line "날 꺼내 줘 매일 밤." Full self-production across an entire mini album is rare. He's been on a roll lately—a recent win at a Macau awards ceremony and 10,000 people chanting along at a Thailand festival.
June 10 also brings his first-ever solo listening session at Seongsu Rate Music in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. Two nights of solo concerts follow: tape:roots Seoul at YES24 LIVE HALL on June 20 and 21. Then Bangkok in July.
