Kim Dong-hyun and Song Ha-yul expecting fourth child in October, open up about family planning

Kim Dong-hyun and his wife Song Ha-yul are expecting their fourth child — a son — in October 2026. They sat down for an interview at their 60-pyeong Banpo home, published June 25 on broadcaster Lee Ji-hye's channel.

Kim was born in 1981. Song, six years younger, is not a public figure. They married in 2018 after dating for 11 years and now have one son and two daughters.

When asked about the pregnancies, Kim didn't mince words: "All were planned." During their dating years, once they turned 30, the couple decided that if a child came along they would treat it as fate. They stopped using contraception. Nothing happened immediately. "I was worried there might be a problem with me since children weren't coming," he said. After marriage, conception still didn't happen right away. Song took herbal medicine. Within two weeks she was pregnant.

Kim said his wife's health is his top concern heading into the fourth birth. He also shared something that caught him off guard: while still pregnant with their fourth, Song told him she wished she had waited until a fifth before he had a vasectomy. Song's own take was blunter. "I had the surgery too quickly."
