All 44 films from the 22nd Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival hit Netflix on June 24

All 44 films screened at the 22nd Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival stream on Netflix starting June 24 for two weeks. Major award winners stay on the platform after that window closes. Netflix bankrolled the festival this year.

The festival ran June 18–23 at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. About 8,400 viewers showed up across six days, with every screening session selling out the moment tickets dropped. A 97% seat occupancy rate. Out of 1,667 submissions, 44 made the cut for the main competition across five genre categories.

Actor Ju Hyun-young hosted the closing ceremony on June 23. Seonhee's Aunt (선희이모), directed by Wi Eun-kyung and Son Gwang-min, swept the drama category—grand prize, Best Actor (Jung Ho-jung), and the Audience Award. Kang Sung-jun's Ozojun (오조준) won romance/melodrama's grand prize and Best Actor (Geum Bin). Kim Geun-ho's Wolnam Bosal (월남보살) took comedy. Choi Ji-hye's Noise Canceling (노이즈 캔슬링) won horror/fantasy. Park Jung-soo's Seoreul Damgo (서를 담고) topped action/thriller and earned the Cinematography award (Lee Young-hun).

Tae Ji-won's Touch Tuk (터치 툭) and Yun Ji-hye's Report (보고서) received Jury Special Awards. Directors Mok Gyu-ri and Hong Seok-woo won Best Moving Self Portrait for Fingerprints (손자국).

No Grand Prize was awarded this year. The prize requires unanimous consent from all judges—it's been given out only four times total, last in 2017 when director Kim Hyun-jung won at the 16th festival for A House Without Me (나만 없는 집).

Award-winning films also stream on Naver Chzzk for two weeks starting July 8.

Mise-en-scène is Korea's only genre-focused short film festival. It launched directors Na Hong-jin, Jang Jae-hyun, Yeon Sang-ho, and Yoon Jong-bin. Netflix VP Kang Dong-han, who oversees Korean content, told the opening ceremony crowd that Netflix would "warmly support your brilliant challenges from the closest position."
