Musical 'Elisabeth' announces full cast for 6th Korean season, opening August 16

EMK뮤지컬컴퍼니 announced the full cast for the sixth Korean season of Elisabeth. The show opens August 16 at Blue Square Woori Bank Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and runs through November 15.

Elisabeth has drawn over 12.5 million cumulative viewers worldwide since its 1992 Vienna premiere. The production rotates three actors through each of its two lead roles. 린아 (Rin-ah), 이지혜 (Lee Ji-hye), and 이지수 (Lee Ji-su) share the role of Empress Elisabeth. 카이 (Kai), 서경수 (Seo Kyung-soo), and 고은성 (Go Eun-sung) play Death (Der Tod). All three Death castings are new to the role this season.

이지혜 appeared in the 2022 season. The cynical narrator-assassin Luccheni goes to 박은태 (Park Eun-tae), 강홍석 (Kang Hong-seok), and 노윤 (Noh Yoon). Park Eun-tae has played Luccheni in three previous seasons, including the original Korean production. Kang Hong-seok returns to the stage after eight years—his last appearance was in the fourth season.

The ensemble rounds out with 민영기 (Min Young-ki) and 박민성 (Park Min-sung) as Emperor Franz Joseph. 서지영 (Seo Ji-young) and 주아 (Jua) play Archduchess Sophie. 장윤석 (Jang Yoon-seok) and 김우성 (Kim Woo-sung) take Crown Prince Rudolf. 김대호 (Kim Dae-ho) plays Max. 장예원 (Jang Ye-won) is Ludovika.

Michael Kunze wrote and lyricked the production. Sylvester Levay composed the music. Notable songs include 나는 나만의 것, 마지막 춤, 밀크, 키치, and 그림자는 길어지고.

In Korea, the show has won eight awards at the 6th The Musical Awards, four at the 18th Korea Musical Awards, and both the grand prize and musical work award at the 8th Golden Ticket Awards.

"This sixth season will also bring together the finest actors to add depth to the play and create another legendary stage," a production official said.
