Doctor Somboy wraps: Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun say goodbye to Pyeondong-do

Doctor Somboy is done. The ENA Monday-Tuesday drama aired its final episode on July 7 at 10 PM. Do Ji-ui (Lee Jae-wook) and Yuk Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun) spent a year on the island of Pyeondong-do.

The finale arrived after things got messy. Do Ji-ui had risked his own safety to save a patient and started working through old trauma. Antagonist Go Chang-mok (Kim Hae-gon) had engineered the temporary closure of the local health clinic. In the final hour, Do Ji-ui shows up at Go Chang-mok's speech venue. Yuk Ha-ri scrambles with medical supplies in hand. The drama closes with a farewell ceremony marking the end of one year on the island.

Lee Jae-wook kept it brief: "The time spent with Do Ji-ui was precious," he said. Viewer support would make the show "remain warmly in my memory." Shin Ye-eun said she could "recall Pyeondong-do with a warm heart" right up to the final broadcast and wished viewers "bright sunshine" in their lives. Hong Min-gi thanked the director, writer, staff, and fellow cast members. Lee Su-kyung called it "a valuable and meaningful time and a journey that will remain in my memory for a long time." Kim Yun-woo said he was "happy to work with good people" and promised to pray for laughter in viewers' lives.

(The OST album entered pre-sale for anyone holding onto the Pyeondong-do era a little longer.)

그대에게 드림 (Dream for You), starring Hwang In-yeop and Lee Hye-ri, takes the slot next. First broadcast: July 13.
